Wang Bing and Žilnik take us “From the Earth to the Moon”

The section that premieres, out of competition, the latest films from key documentary filmmakers, will bring us a selection of 21 films that showcase the world today and the direct us towards its future. Not to be missed titles include the Cannes selected Dead Souls, by Wang Bing and Želimir Žilnik’s The Most Beautiful Country in the World, which will have its world premiere at Doclisboa.

Other noteworthy films include: Of Fathers and Sons, in which Talal Derki accompanies the day-to-day life of a radical Islamic family. The Silence of Others (pictured), in which Almudena Carracedo and Robert Bahar show the 40-year struggle of victims of General Franco’s dictatorship. Eldorado, by Markus Imhoof, a film that follows the refugee crisis to reflect upon the Europe’s history and won the International Amnesty Prize at the Berlin Festival. Fahavalo, Madagascar 1947, whith which Marie-Clémence Andriamonta-Paes revisits Madagascar’s independence. Or Yours in Sisterhood, where Irene Lusztig captures testimonies based on letters sent during the 1970s to Ms., the first American feminist magazine.
