The Films of the World is an unpublished series of fifty-one cinétracts by Frank Smith. Cinétracts are originally short documentaries constructed from national and international photographic material, an initiative launched in May 1968 by filmmaker Chris Marker. The Films of the World revives this cinematic experience, both poetic and political, focusing on the flaws of the contemporary world. According to the protocol, the cinétracts should “challenge-propose-shock-inform-interrogate-affirm-convince-think-shout-denounce-cultivate”, in order to promote discussion and action.
