La Chambre
Chantal Akerman
A long and non‑stop slow panning shot repeatedly describes the space of a room. In bed, Chantal Akerman sits motionless; when the camera passes her again, she is eating an apple. It is both a mysterious self‑portrait of the filmmaker in her favourite place and the equivalent, for her film making, of a still life: to assemble her furniture in a repetitive description, in order to subsequently better get rid of it.
