Founded in 1996, Apordoc - The Portuguese Documentary Association - is a non-profit-making organization with the objective of promoting and divulging the production and distribution of documentary films and establishing links with other Portuguese and international institutions.

Apordoc is part of the European Documentary Network (EDN), the largest pan-European documentary organization.

Other Apordoc activities besides doclisboa include :

•  Lisbon Docs - forum for the co-financing of documentaries (in partnership with EDN, the European documentary Network) - since 1998
•  Participation with producers and directors in the international marketplace - since 1998
•  Doc's Kingdom, an International Seminar on Documentary Cinema - since 2000
•  Publication of the journal docs.pt , a biligual journal on the documentary
•  Panorama - A showing of Portuguese documentaries in collaboration with the a
Videoteca de Lisboa (Lisbon Videoteque)
•  Public showings of documentaries in various parts of Portugal
