Georges leaves Paris to go to a seminar on the opposite side of the country. When the car breaks down on the side of the highway, mechanic Serge proposes to fix it, and he takes Georges to his home, promising to take care of the car the following day. As the repair seems to go on forever, the two forty-year-old go from mutual distrust to a strange friendship.
