The area of the world under the spotlight at doclisboa 2009 is a powder keg: fratricidal wars; religious, ethnic and political conflicts; the most recent European genocide; untreatable post war traumas and the inception of new mafias. The dream of a multicultural Yugoslavia was shipwrecked and sank: today the region is divided into 7 independent states where life is beginning again. And so is cinema.
