| France, 1969, 62’ |
| February 1969, the French film director Pierre Barrouh landed in Rio de Janeiro ready to record a culture that, despite his limited acquaintance with it, fascinated him intensely. Saravah is the result of several film sessions with those ancients, Pixinguinha and João da Bahia, then octogenarians, a young Maria Bethania (at 21) and Paulinho da Viola, with Baden Powell as the link between those so distant and fundamental generations of Brazilian music. |
