Remeniscences Of A Journey To Lithuania
Jonas Mekas
USA, 1972, 82’
A documentary that deals with issues such as memory, culture and homeland. The director returns to Lithuania, to reconnect with his mother, his homeland, Semeniskiai, the house he used to live in and several family members. Divided into four parts covering several periods, the film also presents some images of his early years in America, and a parenthesis which opens on the suburb of Manburg, Elmshorn, where Mekas spent a year in a labour camp, and ends with a fire in a fruit market in Vienna, which he had visited with some friends.
