Madam Butterfly |
| Tsai Ming Liang |
| Italy, Taiwan, France, 2008, 36’ |
| Tsai Ming-Liang retains very little of the opera by Puccini, just the setting: here we see Madame Butterfly in a bus station in Kuala Lumpur, with insufficient money to pay for her ticket after she has been left by her lover. In the next three shots we watch as she tries to figure out how to get home with hardly any money and what to do next. |
