Himalaya Land Of Women
Marianne Chaud
France, 2008, 52’
Director Marianne Chaud was “adopted” by a small community for several years. At an altitude of nearly 4,000 meters, Sking is one of the most isolated villages in the Himalayas. From August to October, the inhabitants have to harvest and store all their food for the coming year. All the women – young and old alike – work non-stop. Filmed with great sensitivity, Himalaya, Land of Women gives a voice to four generations of women.
