| In accordance with the Julian calendar, New Year’s Eve in Macedonia is celebrated between January 13 and 14 when the Djolomars party, a sexually charged, pagan ritual of Dionysian proportions is held. This celebration is similar to the Portuguese “festa dos rapazes” (“Lads’ Festival”) from the north of Portugal. |
