Financing Models and Institutions
Collective masterclass focussing on the process of project funding. Several supporting international institutions and programmes will be presented as well as co-production incentives. In the presence of representatives from Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual, Eurimages (the international support fund to European cinema), and in the scope of the Invited Country programme (which in 2019 is Germany) from Filmförderungsanstalt (the German national film institute) and Nordmedia (a German regional fund).

About the speakers
Nuno Fonseca
Advisor for International Affairs and Policy at the Portuguese national film agency since 2000, and its Vice President between 2005 and 2007. Has a wide experience in advising and evaluating projects, as a member of the Directing Committee of the Eurimages Fund and of several juries. Between 1997 and 2000, was an advisor of the Secretary of State for Culture. Visiting professor at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School and a member of the European Film Academy.
Luís Chaby Vaz
President of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual of Portugal since June 2017. Worked in the cultural sector where he held several public management positions, and also in the advertising industry and in the film post-production sector as Tobis CEO. Cultural Counsellor at the Portuguese Embassy in Spain between 2010 and 2013. After that, he worked in a venture capital firm and as a private consultant.
Katharina Retzlaff
CEO advisor at the German Federal Film Board (Filmförderungsanstalt FFA) since 2016. Has a master’s degree in social and cultural studies from the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt. Also responsible for special measures to promote German cinema that help to improve the structure of the German film industry.
Jochen Coldewey
Founding member and co-director of the European Media Art Festival (EMAF), Osnabrück. Deputy director of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen. Film consultant. Responsible for film funding within the Ministry of Science and Culture, and later on civil servant within the State Chancellery of Lower-Saxony, Hanover. Head of funding within the Nordmedia state funding body since 2001.
