Akerman directed this documentary in the framework of a TV series about grandmothers. The filmmaker visits three elderly women of Jewish ascent and asks them to tell her about their grandmothers. Seated in their sitting rooms, filmed in fixed shots, a whole world vanished in concentration camps comes back to life in their words.
