Sonia Wieder-Atherton is one of the world's greatest living cellists. In this film, she performs some short pieces, either solo or accompanied by a small ensemble. The music is played on a stage that is seen, not from the hall, but from a side wing. This device and the decision to let only the music be heard provide a precious lesson in listening.
