Program

The Hogon is the religious chief of Dogon society. When he dies, the villagers gather round his house. Men simulate a fight and, on hearing the funeral horns, fire their guns several times. Old warriors defend the home of the dead man. Women shake their gourds, cry and mourn. The bound body is walked around the village, accompanied by musicians.
