In Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso), Moro Naba Saaga, the traditional chief of the Mossi in the region of Uagadugu, dies, in November 1957. Sacrifices, offerings, rifle salutes and drumming are the ways homage is paid to the dead king by his chiefs, by his people and by foreign delegations, over the 13 days of the funeral ceremony.
