"Alhear" suggests a state of separation, an effect of deviation, an absence of roots, a sensation of loss and a feeling of shifting. The film portrays the post-colonial condition, reflected in the experiences of the Portuguese who lived in the African colonies before the 1974 revolution and in their path following the process of decolonisation.
