Sixteen years ago, the Zhang abandoned their children to look for work in the city, hoping for a better life. Ironically, because of the parents’ absence, the daughter abandons school and goes to work in the city as well. “Last Train Home” is a portrait of the Chinese society caught between tradition and the new reality.
