In Finland a huge system of underground tunnels is being hewn out of solid bedrock. It is the first attempt ever at a permanent storage for nuclear waste, that must remain isolated from all living organisms for at least 100 000 years. Written as a letter to future viewers and listening to nuclear power experts, this documentary constitutes a vision of time and a group portrait of these pioneers who plan for eternity, in an attempt to communicate in the best possible way with the unknown future of the human race.
