The “Oil Rocks” – Behind these enigmatic words hides the biggest and oldest offshore oil town, built by Stalin as a network of tentacle-like artificial islands erected in the middle of the Caspian Sea in 1949. Sixty years later a western film crew accesses this universe in full operation: 300 km of bridges, hundreds of platforms, thousands of oilmen living in nine-storey apartment blocks with canteens, a park, a sports centre.
