Regulations
1. Arché is a laboratory of professional activities taking place in the context of Doclisboa – International Film Festival. In 2019, Arché and MRG//Work – Márgenes Film Festival’s Development and Production Encounter come together for a new project: RAW: Arché→Work Residencies Project.Arché also takes place in the context of Porto/Post/Doc festival.
2. RAW is a training and development programme consisting in a series of activities including Arché lab, artistic residencies and MRG//WORK lab.
3. RAW aims to create a space of deep reflection and development, establishing Lisbon-Madrid axis into service of a plural and independent film industry of non-fiction film, encouraging co-productions between Ibermedia countries and strengthening the partnership between Arché and MRG//Work. It focuses mainly on independent projects, giving priority to young filmmakers and producers and unique, innovative, consistent and relevant projects in the contemporary landscape. It is also dedicated to the training of non-fiction film researchers and critics.
4. In 2019, activities will take place between October 17th and November 30th, with the following schedule:
17 – 27 October: Arché (Lisbon)
28 October- 19 November: Artistic Residencies
20 – 30 November: MRG//Work (Madrid)
In Port/Post/Doc, Arché will take place between 26thand 30th November.
5. The programme consists of project development workshops and joint meetings – masterclasses, presentations and debates – around professional questions, crucial to the development, creation and visibility of a film today, a Research and Film Critic workshop and artistic residencies. Activities will take place between Lisbon (in the context of Arché), Madrid (in the context of MRG//Work) and Porto (Porto/Post/Doc).
6. Arché is a laboratory dedicated to film projects that encompass a strong implication in the domain of the real – projects able to experiment the potential and boundaries of its documental matrix and to young critics and researchers focusing on Ibero-American cinema.
7. Arché is exclusively targeted to productions and directors from one of the Ibermedia Program member countries: Argentina, Bolívia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Perú, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
8. An annual call for entries will be announced on the website www.doclisboa.org.
9. Registration is free of charge.
10. Submission implies sending the materials as defined in the call. Applications not complying with the requirements will not be considered.
11. The selection of the participating projects will be made by the project coordinators. Also, if considered relevant, the coordinators will summon up relevant professionals from the sector.
12. Selected candidates will be informed by e-mail up to a month before the festival. This information will be under embargo until the official announcement to be made by the organizers.
The selection will be announced on the website www.doclisboa.org and www.margenes.org.
13. Participants will authorise the publication of the provided information and materials in the official festival catalogue and website, and other promotional materials.
14. Directors and producers of the selected projects agree to use the official logotype in its credits and promotional materials. Logos can be downloaded here (link)
15. In the case of Arché and/or MRG//Work awards winners, participants must also mention the award in the credits.
16. The submission of a project implies the knowledge and acceptance of these regulations.
17. The direction of the festival will decide on all matters not covered by these regulations, in accordance with the rules of international film festivals.
