The Philippines had been under Spanish rule for 325 years when the Revolution, led by Andrés Bonifacio, exploded on August 21, 1896. On May 9, 1897, Bonifacio was charged with the death sentence by rival revolutionaries. His wife searched for his body while Emilio Jacinto was striving to figure out what happened to Andrés and what had become of the revolution.
