The journey of a troupe of actors through Greece, to perform a popular melodrama, is used to tell the story of the country in between 1939 and 1952 (the fascist dictatorship, the resistance against Italy, the Nazi occupation, the civil war). Between historical drama and folklore, the narrative unfolds in a mythological dimension structured in the tragedy of Aeschylus, Oresteia.
