A father and his daughter searching for a missing person in an itinerary film along the railroad. Based on a true story, Cavalier refuses the usual paths of this genre and makes a film as an "inside" journey, in a sort of "minimalism" that begins a new stage of his own work. According to Gérard Legrand, "after L'Avventura [Antonioni] it is one of the theoretical keys of a certain type of modern film".
