Catania, Sicily. In the heart of the working class neighbourhood lies a vast and lawless territory where makeshift stables can be found. One of them is owned by Concetto - aka "il farmacista" [the pharmacist] - a man respected and feared, with a reputation in the world of clandestine horse racing. This illegal activity is the main source of income for him and his whole family.
