Chamarrita is a folk dance that originated in the Azores many years ago. A group composed by guitar and mandolin-players and fiddlers (and sometimes "singers" as well) give the necessary beat to command the dance. There is a mandador who shouts and co-ordinates the various couples. This folk dance is still quite alive in Faial and Pico Islands.
